The mild climate and peaceful atmosphere that define La Caleta invite visitors to take a refreshing swim and enjoy the sun and the Atlantic sea breeze. White sandy coves, black sand beaches and rocky shores all coexist in this small coastal area. Despite its size, La Caleta offers a variety of charming seaside spots. In this article, we highlight four of the best.
La Caleta Beach
Crystal-clear water and tranquillity best describe La Caleta Beach. This rocky cove is usually quiet, perhaps due to its strong waves and currents, which is why visiting at low tide is recommended.
In the past, La Caleta Beach was the old fishing pier, and today it sits in a well-connected area. Nearby, you will find several restaurants specialising in fresh fish, making it an ideal place to stop for lunch or dinner after a day by the sea.

Diego Hernández Beach
With its golden sand and turquoise waters, Diego Hernández Beach is one of the most attractive coastal spots on the island of Tenerife. For many years it remained an unspoilt beach, although it has gradually gained popularity over time.
As with most wild beaches, access requires some effort, as it can only be reached on foot. It is also recommended to visit at low tide, as the sand almost disappears when the tide comes in. The effort, however, is rewarded with truly spectacular views.

Varadero Beach
Varadero is a beach made up of pebbles, stones and dark sand, reflecting the essence of Tenerife’s volcanic landscape. It is located in an area used for both fishing and leisure boats, which means it can be quite busy. Nearby, there are several spots where you can enjoy local tapas and traditional dishes.
Los Morteros Beach
In contrast to Varadero, Los Morteros is all about relaxation. Greyish sand mixed with pebbles and crystal-clear waters define this secluded spot, which can only be reached on foot via a somewhat challenging route. Despite this, it is highly valued by both visitors and locals for its stunning natural surroundings.
This beach is also nudist, offering a serene and private atmosphere for those who choose to bathe here.

For safety reasons, before enjoying any of these beaches, we recommend paying attention to the existing signage. If in doubt, check online or ask locals for advice.
